Waste sector desk

The Waste Sector desk at GreenCape has grown as a result of the level of understanding of the waste economy in the Western Cape. The sector desk has worked with various industry stakeholders, academia and government to understand challenges, such as legislation, and to identify alternative waste treatment opportunities within the region.

Strengthening the existing relationships with the relevant industry associations and the industry itself is a key focus areas, with the view to attracting investment and supporting enterprise development and the attendant job creation in the Western Cape. If required, working groups/internal projects may be established (or joined) to address challenges to growth of the sector in the Western Cape and collaborate on solutions to overcome them.

Industry players have the opportunity to interact through various outlets in the waste sector, such as working groups and networking events, where issues, challenges and opportunities going forward can be discussed.
