GreenCape hosts Sustainable Water Use Workshop for the Food and Beverage Industry

On Friday, 23 March 2018, GreenCape hosted a Sustainable Water Use Workshop for SMME’s in the Food and Beverage Industry. The event was hosted in order to assist businesses with identifying sustainable water use opportunities amidst the water crisis.

GreenCape presented an update on the Drought Status and highlighted the business support on offer by the Western Cape Government, City of Cape Town, and GreenCape. The City of Cape Town presented on various water sources with recommendations on sterilization, usage and handling. SABS provided insight into the certification process for SABS approval and how to maintain food safety standards whilst using less water. The event attendees were guided through GreenCape’s Sustainable Water Use Journey which is a framework used to assist business with mapping and reducing their water usage. In addition, Pesto Princess, presented a case study on what the business has done to date with the help of GreenCape to save water within their business.
