The Western Cape Industrial Symbiosis Programme (WISP) develops mutually profitable links between companies from
all industrial sectors, so that under-utilised resources such as energy and water, and/or materials from one company can be recovered, reprocessed and re-used by others.
Every two years, the World Economic Forum (WEF) holds a meeting of global leaders in Cape Town
WISP assisted the World Economic Forum (WEF) with diverting tear-down waste from the landfil that was produced from the set up of their event which included 12 tonnes of clean pine planks, 500m2 carpeting, treated fabrics used for its event set up at the Cape Town International Conference Centre. With WISP’s assistance, the different waste material was repurposed to make event bags, jewellery boxes, furniture and pallets for sale repair flooring for informal housing in Hout Bay carpet one of its community schools for underprivileged children by different organisations/companies.
