The Western Cape Industrial Symbiosis Programme (WISP), delivered by GreenCape, develops mutually profitable links between companies from all industrial sectors, so that under-utilised resources such as energy and water, and/or materials from one company can be recovered, reprocessed and re-used by others

WISP faciliated a mutually beneficial relationship between YWaste, a food waste management service provider in need of  carbon rich organic waste such as wood shavings and sawdust to balance its carbon to nitrogen ratio, with Samson Bedding and Cape Town Film Studio (CTFS) that had saw dust as part of their waste.

This new relationship has resulted in approximately seven tonnes of sawdust waste per being diverted from the landfill per year.
